Abstract
- The performance of a brushless permanent magnet machine topology equipped with axially and circumferentially magnetized ferrite permanent magnets is presented. Simulation studies show that for smaller ratios of axial length to active length, air-gap flux densities in excess of 1 T can be achieved, resulting in significant improvements in torque production and efficiency. A prototype machine is manufactured, and test results confirm the predictions of the EMF and the static torque. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
