Abstract

In this work, we studied a technology of laser-induced coloration of TC4 by surface oxidation, the aim is to explore the effect of thermal field on the marking color which is applied to control the color in single operating variable. The controllable coloration of TC4 surface at laser heating in the air was conducted; the surface morphology and microstructure of the specimens were examined by optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the reflectance spectra of the oxide film were measured by optics spectrometer, and the color images are fabricated finally.
