Abstract

When hydrodynamics is pushed to the limits of its applicability, the influence of transient nonhydrodynamic modes becomes important. As hydrodynamics plays an important role in modelling heavy-ion collisions, understanding the nonhydrodynamic sector of QCD is a worthy, but difficult, goal. In this contribution, I describe the role that nonhydrodynamic modes play in toy models of the expanding quark-gluon plasma, with a focus on my work in kinetic theory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
