Abstract

Dunn's pragmatist sociology is a strong intellectual framework for renewing a sociological imperative to deal with capitalism as a public issue, though it is less clear how pragmatist sociology relates to noneconomic cultural and political issues. In the end, Dunn accomplishes his goal of relating pragmatism to a morally powerful vision of public sociology, and the book is a great contribution to furthering the importance of public sociology. 2 Toward a Pragmatist Sociology: John Dewey and the Legacy of C.
