Abstract

The article presents an update of issues related to the social sciences and humanities online information services in the U.S. as of May 2004. The American Psychological Association will license from EBSCO the content contained in the former e-psyche database. Approximately 15,000 records from newsletters and other similar materials will enter PsycEXTRA, the association's new gray literature database. Other PsycEXTRA documents include research reports not submitted to scholarly journals, convention papers and abstracts, policy papers, newsletters, magazines, popular books, consumer brochures, curricula, and fact sheets. ProQuest Information and Learning announced the third release of the online collection American Drama, covering more than 1,100 dramatic works from the Colonial period to the beginning of the 20th century. David Belasco, Joaquin Miller, Clyde Fitch, and James Herne are among the leading post-Civil War playwrights added to American Drama 1714-1915. ProQuest also announced the first release of Twentieth Century Drama. When complete, the new database will contain 2,500 plays in English, the history of modern drama from the 1890s to the present day, all in searchable full text. H.W. Wilson released its updated Humanities& Social Sciences Index Retrospective 1907-1984, which features cover to cover indexing of some 1,200 scholarly journals with 1,300,000 articles.
