The authors response to comments on their research which examined the perioperative glucose control in diabetic patients undergoing elective surgery. Topics covered include their clarification of not advocating intensive glucose control during perioperative period, target blood glucose and avoidance of hypoglycemia and a meta-analysis showing that good glucose control is beneficial.
