Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present the first stage of the United States film industry, called the Golden Age of Hollywood, from its founding until its crisis in the late 1940s. The proposal here is to describe how it was born, who were the fathers, and how it developed into the largest entertainment factory in the world. It is important to realize that the existence of Hollywood and its mode of production greatly affected not only mass communication but global politics in the first half of the last century. The studios located on the west coast of America are an important focus of attention to understand the development of Western culture in the last century. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
