Abstract

Selective laser melting is a new manufacturing technique that can easily facilitates metal parts with complex structural shapes and high performance. This paper processed 316L stainless steel by SLM technology, and characterized the microstructure and mechanical properties of the as-built specimen. The complex microstructure with cells and columnar grains was observed in the specimen, the specimen density is about 97% and the hardness can reach 189 HV. The wear test results show that the average friction coefficient of the SLM sample is 0.642. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
