- SURFING HAS FASCINATED me for years. I have a subscription to The Surfer's Journal, and I've seen Bruce Brown's surf epic, The Endless Summer, and its 1994 sequel countless times. The GTR kicked off an appreciation for BMWs that has lasted nearly 20 years, and there was no reason to think that my adoration of the thing would ever be spoiled by actually meeting it.
