Abstract

[Objective] The present paper aimed to provide the resource data support for innovation and quality breeding of Perillafrutescens. [Method] The oil, protein, fatty acid and moisture content in kernels of 132 Perillafrutescens germplasm resources at home and abroad were determined and analyzed. [Result] The content of oil, protein and a-Linoleic acid in kernels of 132 Perilla frutescens germplasm resources was 20.24%-53.71%, 10.86%-27.60% and 39.10%-73.06% respectively. The oil content was positively related to protein content very significantly. The a-Linoleic acid content was negatively related to content of palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid very significantly. The linoleic acid content was positively related to content of palmitic acid, stearic acid and oleic acid very significantly. The oil and protein content showed a bimodal distribution. The content of a-Linoleic acid, linoleic acid and oleic acid showed a normal distribution. [Conclusion] The variation range in oil content, protein content and fatty acid composition of 132 Perillafrutescens germplasm resources is large, which indicates the genetic diversity. The oil content in seeds of 17 and 3 Perilla frutescens germplasm resources exceeds50% and 53% respectively. The protein content in seeds of 10 and 2 Perilla frutescens germplasm resources exceeds 25% and 27% separately. The a-Linoleic acid content in seeds of 8 and 2 Perilla frutescens germplasm resources exceeds 60% and 70% respectively. These germplam resources with higher content of oil, protein and a-Linoleic acid should be used in quality breeding of Perilla frutescens. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
