Abstract
- Two phosphite-stabilized titanium-oxo clusters (TOCs) functionalized with ferrocenecarboxylate ligands, namely, [Ti6(μ3-O)2(μ2-O)2(μ2-OiPr)4(OiPr)6(O3PH)2(O2CFc)2] (Fc = ferrocenyl) and [Ti5(μ3-O)2(μ2-O)(μ2-OiPr)2(OiPr)4(O3PH)2(O2CFc)4] were synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The photophysical, photoelectrochemical, and photocatalytic properties of the clusters were investigated. These two clusters exhibit intense visible absorption with narrow band gap of ~ 2.2 eV. The photocurrent response and dye degradation experiments show that the Ti-oxo core structures have influence on the photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic properties of these ferrocenecarboxylate-functionalized titanium-oxo clusters.
