Abstract

Aerobic or resistive exercise has been tested on the performance of executive functions, human exercise, but exhaustive physical exercise still needs to be better investigated. It was our objective to determine the acute effects of a very short duration progressive exercise session on EF and motor skills of healthy young adults. Thirty-six subjects underwent EF tests, Digit Span for working memory, Stroop Test for Inhibitory Control and Digit Tracking for motor before and after performing an exercise session until maximal exhaustion. Statistical analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilks test to determine the normality of the data and Student's "t" test with a significance of 5%. The results were shown in mean and standard deviation. An exhaustive physical exercise session was able to improve working memory, inhibitory control and motor skills of young adults. Exhaustive exercise improved EF (working memory and inhibitory control) and motor skills of young adults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
