Abstract

Purpose. The energy parameters determination of bulk materials mixing equipment. Methodology. The paper used methods of mathematical modeling, comparative analysis and research of electric drive. The particles motion study inside the mixer was performed on the theoretical mechanics laws basis. Findings. Design features of continuous and batch bulk materials mixers are considered. The operation principle and energy consumption are shown for a periodic action tape mixer with a productivity of 4000 kg / h. The continuous centrifugal mixer design and operation principle are presented. A particle motion mathematical model inside a continuous centrifugal mixer is presented. The mutual arrangement analysis of the bulk material particles inside the rotor was carried out and the conditions are determined under which a high-quality mixing process is ensured. Mathematical models are proposed to determine equipment design and technological parameters based on a given performance. Operation modes are determined in which the centrifugal mixer consumes the maximum energy amount. An algorithm for determining the continuous electric centrifugal mixer power is proposed. The comparative analysis results of the continuous and batch mixers energy consumption with the same performance are presented. A study of operating modes and factors affecting energy consumption was carried out. Originality. Mathematical models are obtained that allows determining the relationship between a continuous centrifugal mixer performance, its operating modes, and power consumption. Practical value. The obtained results permits to make an informed choice of equipment for mixing bulk materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
