Abstract

In this study, the factors affecting the effectiveness of nursing services management in hospitals, the functioning of management functions, nursing services effectiveness aimed to reveal. The data of this descriptive study was collected from 526 volunteer nurses working in a public university hospital, a private and a training and research hospital in Istanbul with the Personal Information Form and the Nursing Services Management Effectiveness Scale. In the evaluation of the data; number, percentage, mean and standard deviation, t test, ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests. The subscale mean scores of the nurses participating in the study were found as follows; general management policies=3.12±,87, unity of purpose=3.10±,76, delegation of authority=3.53± ,68, hierarchy=2.98±,82, reporting=3.37±,93. In the comparison with the sub-dimensions of the scale, significant differences were found between all sub-dimension in all variables. Among these, comparison of workplace and scale sub-dimension means, the highest level of nursing service management efficiency in hospitals was ranked as Private Hospital, then Public University Hospital and Education and Research Hospital. In order to make the organizations successful, it is recommended that the managers contribute to increasing the effectiveness of nursing service management by eliminating the deficiencies in the management practices.
