Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the mobilization of the gender condition in the image production of two candidates: Luizianne Lins (PT) and Marta Suplicy (MDB), in Fortaleza (year 2008) and São Paulo (year 2016). Assuming that the HGPE can serve to legitimize dominant political discourses as well as to contest them, the question is: What are the uses of the female condition that the candidates presented in their campaigns? Was there room for questioning gender-related stereotypes? The corpus of the analysis is the candidate's HGPE. The search for these answers was searched through the method of methodology used was that of Discourse Analysis. Observing the images of the candidates during the HGPE showed the evocation of places of speech traditionally related to the female and the mobilization of stereotypes. Campaigns in different periods and in different cities, reinforced the mother's place of speech, seeking the protagonism of women in the spaces of power while contributing to the promotion of their subordinate entry in politics: women can only leave home for others, if for a greater love, to lend their care and sensitivity to society.
