Abstract

This article starts by placing the work of Ricardo Rojas in the history and the various stages of Argentine indigenism, from the cycle of the Revolutions of independence to the radical indigenismo of the 60s and 70s, through the juncture of the Centennial of Argentina. In this context, we question ourselves about the scope of the redist indigenism as a project of national-state foundation from its location in the general pacts of the liberal-oligarchic regime, investigating for it in its use of the metaphors of the blood and the earth. Finally, from a general assessment and in dialogue with other authors, we review his conception of miscegenation and his legacy for the later developments of national indigenism.
