Abstract

This paper analyzes the recent productive restructuring process inside the Imperatriz state of Maranhão territory, by the production chain of paper and cellulose. To achieve this objective, it presents the transformations created by this process from three strands: increase of the plantation area to grow eucalyptus, the mobility of the capital by the transportation facilities of raw material and labor force specialization, presenting the data of the cities that produce eucalyptus and its expansion based in the plantation area increase. Besides that, it maps the expansion of the paper and cellulose industries in Brazil and its logistics that transports the raw material. In addition, it presents the data of labor transformations based on the changes in the labor market, technical and college education. This is achieved presenting the cartographic and photo production, from statistical data of the Brazilian wood industry, from the annual report of social information, from the general registry of employed and unemployed people, labor statistics dissemination program and local teaching institutions.
