Abstract

Across the 1213-1736 participants (aged >=18 years) included in each wave, the authors identified those with probable depression (Patient Health Questionnaire-9 score >=10), PTSD symptoms (PTSD Checklist - Civilian Version score >=14), and - for those in 2019 - suspected PTSD (PTSD symptoms plus direct exposure to traumatic events related to the social unrest). It is worth noting that the 2019 prevalence was assessed during ongoing unrest instead of after the unrest had finished; thus, prevalence of PTSD symptoms during the 2019-20 social unrest might have been overestimated by including acute stress responses in the estimation.
