Abstract

The article discusses the benefits of school-family relationships in the education of English learners (EL) in the U.S. Also cited are how a neighborhood elementary school in the U.S. welcomed the children of an immigrant family from Laos, as well as how to establish an engaging and welcoming school community like creating a supportive learning environment, and building relational trust and systems for networking.
