Based on reviews of literature and experts' consensus,the Chinese Society of Hepatology developed the following guideline on the diagnosis and treatment of liver cirrhosis aiming to improve clinical practice. In addition to what has been covered in the previously published guidelines on the management of cirrhosis complications, the guideline adds new sections and provides updates. The guidelines emphasize the early diagnosis of the cause and assessment of the complications. Comprehensive treatment including etiological treatment, and complication management should be initiated immediately.
