Abstract

The article offers information on the court cases related to the insanity defense. It discusses the court case of the Daniel M'Naghten, Scottish woodturner who assassinated English civil servant Edward Drummond while suffering from paranoid delusions. It discusses the problems of interpretation exist with the M'Naghten Rule (insanity defense), along with intentional crimes defined by the mens rea (state of mind).
