The article discusses the U.S. Navy (USN) career, leadership, and accomplishments of then USN Admiral James L. Holloway III. Topics explored include the recognition he received for his significant involvement in the Battle of Leyte in the Philippines during World War II, his development of damage control and shipboard safety regulations while serving as USN Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, and the success of his reorganization of USN operations.
