Abstract

The present experimental study investigates the different factors which affected the bioenergy generation from industrial biomass waste. In this work, sugarcane bagasse was used as a feedstock for biogas generation in an anaerobic type lab scale digester of 25 liters volume. Cow dung inoculum was used in the experiments. The anaerobic biodigestion was carried out in batch mode with mesophilic temperature of 35ºC and 40 days of hydro retention time. The cumulative gas production achieved till 21st day of digestion was 0.24 m³. Methane and carbon dioxide content were about 37 % and 48 % respectively. The pH was measured using digital redox meter, temperature was measured with the digital temperature indicator and biogas flow was measured using gas flow meter. Industrial biomass namely sugarcane bagasse is one of the suitable wastes for bioenergy generation through anaerobic digestion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
