Abstract
- Three Ni(II) coordination polymers based on semi-rigidity 1,4-bis(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazol-1-yl)-2-butylene ligand and dicarboxylic acids ligands were successfully synthesized and characterized. 1 , 2 and 3 exhibit excellent photocatalysts for the degradation of methylene blue under UV irradiation. • Three Ni(II) coordination polymers were synthesized and characterized. • 1 – 3 exhibit good photocatalytic activity for degradation of MB. • The catalysts are very stable and can be reused. • The mechanism of photocatalytic degradation of MB is explored. Three new ternary nickel(II) coordination polymers, namely, {[Ni 2 (L) 2 (1,4-NDC) 2 (H 2 O)]·8.5H 2 O} n (1), {[Ni(L)(TBTA)(H 2 O) 2 ]·H 2 O} n (2) [Ni(L)(OBA)(H 2 O)] n (3) (L = 1,4-bis(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazol-1-yl)-2-butylene; 1,4-H 2 NDC = 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid; H 2 TBTA = tetrabromoterephthalate; H 2 OBA = 4,4′-oxybis(benzoic acid)), were solvothermally synthesized and characterized. 1 exhibits an unusual 3D 3,6T13 framework. 2 and 3 both display the 2D sql networks. 1 – 3 have highly photocatalytic efficiency for the degradation of methylene blue by UV light irradiation. The photocatalytic mechanism was proposed, which was confirmed by trapping experiments in the presence of radical scavengers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
