Abstract
- In this paper, we study two initiatives of José María de Llanos in the 1950 at the University of Madrid. The research has a theoretical and historical dimension. The theoretical character lies in the questioning of the conventional narrative of Service Learning (SL). The historical aspect of the paper is based on intellectual history. The questioning of the habitual narrative of the SL leads us to identify its origin rooted in religious notions and in the tension of combining the message of charity with that of social justice.
