Abstract
- This paper has a twofold aim. Firstly, it provides an analysis of reading promotion policies in Spain and, secondly, it assesses the reading practices and habits of prospective teachers as main agents of such promotion. It can be concluded from the analysis of the data obtained from 1043 future teachers of Pre-Primary and Primary Education through a self-report instrument that their reading habits are insufficiently consolidated and that they lack the reading maturity needed to implement the official reading promotion policies in their classrooms.
