Abstract

The transportation problems faced by the elderly and people with disabilities have received attention from policymakers and practitioners. Eden Social Welfare Foundation (Eden) has observed the challenges and expectations from the elderly and people with disabilities while operating Rehabuses and long-term care services in Taiwan. This study presents a social business model for people with disabilities based on Eden's mobile-based service platform for barrier-free transportation. This social business model illustrates how information and communication technology (ICT) is integrated with transport service providers and government resources to satisfy the transportation needs of disabled people. • Propose a social business model for barrier-free transportation. • Integrate service providers and government resources to build a sharing platform. • Satisfy the transportation needs of people with disabilities.
