Abstract

Objective: The present deals with the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis of one Ayurvedic digestive formulation, Ashtachurnam. Materials and Methods: Ashtachurnam was procured from standard Ayurvedic vendor from Chennai and was subjected to GC-MS analysis following standard procedure. Results: Some important biomolecules such as cycloheximide, piperine, 1-heptatriacotanol., beta.-sitosterol, Thymol, and n-decanoic acid with medicinal values were found in the GC-MS profile. Conclusion: The types of molecules present in the GC-MS indicate their overall medicinal role correlating to Ashtachurnam. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
