Abstract
- In the present work, Ba 1-x Sr x MnO 3 (x = 0.03, 0.07, and 0.10) fibers are synthesized by using the electrospinning–calcinations combinations process. The fabricated fibers were characterized by a combination of analytical technique such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDAX), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), and Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). XRD confirms hexagonal structure of Ba 1-x Sr x MnO 3 fibers. A classical size-strain plot (SSP) method has been applied to estimate the microstructure parameters of the produced fibers from the XRD peak broadening analysis. SEM images show the randomly oriented fibers along with diameter growth upon increasing the Sr content. DRS technique was used to estimate the optical band gap of the synthesized samples. The gas sensing study shows the sensing ability of Ba 1-x Sr x MnO 3 fibers, pressed into pellets, toward ethanol vapors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
