Abstract
- The article focuses on the earliest German Redaction of the Christian book "Legatus divinae pietatis." Topics discussed include the meditating role of the Carthusians in promoting the Legatus; the Carthusian's mission as translators of theological and spiritual texts into the vernacular; and textile culture, in which spinning and sewing were considered devotional works that stimulated contemplation.
