Abstract

The article celebrates the 100th anniversary of Paris, France-based American Library, the English-language lending library founded by Burton Stevenson. Topics discussed include challenges faced by the library, American writers who contributed to the library's postwar rebirth and expansion, and transformation underwent by the library under the leadership of Charles Trueheart, who served as director until 2017.
