- The article discusses the importance of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 and the alleged efforts by U.S. government officials and legislators to abolish it. Also cited are the efforts by President Donald Trump and Senator Josh Hawley to amend the law, how the repeal of the section will weaken the Internet and freedom of expression, and how the section protects social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
