Abstract
- • Three new 1D lead halides were successfully prepared connected by purely corner-shared PbX 5 tetragonal pyramids. • These 1D lead halides can be considered as vacancy-type 1D perovskite lacking one terminal halogen atom, which exhibits two types of chains due to the different interconnection sites. • Compound 3 exhibits broadband yellow-green emission, which shows potential in fabrication of white-light emitting diodes. Herein, by well-designing organic cations as templates, we reported three new one-dimensional (1D) lead halides, [(Me) 4 -pipz]PbCl 4 (1), [(Me) 4 -pipz]PbBr 4 (2) and [DAPr-pipz]PbCl 4 ·H 2 O (3), connected by purely corner-shared tetragonal pyramid building units of PbX 5 (X = Cl, Br). Remarkably, compound 3 exhibits broadband yellow-green emission with photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 1.64% excited by UV light at room temperature, which shows potential in fabrication of white-light emitting diodes. This work provides a novel structural model to understand the relationship between structure and photoluminescence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
