Abstract

The article focuses on an increase in demand for renewable energy sources in Japan after the Fukushima nuclear disaster that took place in 2011. It mentions that Japan has shut down several nuclear plants; and replaced them with power stations. It mentions that Japan wants coal's share of generation to grow, and has approved plans to build several coal-fired plants over the next five years. It presents views of Llewelyn Hughes of the Australian National University, on radical incrementalism.
