Abstract
- Since the concept of governance, often heard in recent years, has highlighted the perception of managing together, interaction and reciprocity have gained importance. Corporate governance should be carried out in parallel with public relations practices as the governance process requires regular flow of information with the public. The concept of corporate governance in selected political parties, which offers solutions to the problems of the public and is selected by the public due to their evaluations of these solutions, will enable a wider assessment. Today, since social media is a very significant medium for providing public access to information, it is also significant to use Facebook and Twitter in public relations and corporate governance practices. The corporate Facebook and Twitter accounts of four political parties during the 26th period in the Parliament in Grand National Assembly of Turkey were evaluated in terms of corporate governance by determining the purpose of use and shared contents of these accounts. The data obtained were analyzed through content analysis, one of the qualitative research techniques, and evaluated through descriptive statistics tests. Accordingly, in public relations activities, political parties use Twitter more than Facebook as a means of informing source. Although the information needed in governance is given via Twitter, the interaction takes place more intensely on Facebook. When compared to parties, AKP uses Twitter most and HDP uses Facebook most. Among the corporate governance principles; transparency and responsibility mostly appear on Twitter, and accountability appears on Facebook while the principle of equality is not implemented in any way on both platforms.
