Abstract
- The article reports on the increase of methanol poisoning outbreaks in Iran which started in March 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics covered include the spread of fake news about the efficacy of various substances for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19, which includes alcohol, the factors attributed to the methanol poisoning and the prohibition of the production, distribution and drinking of alcoholic beverages in the country.
