Reproducción de desigualdades en la universidad: el caso de Trabajo Social e Ingeniería Comercial en Chile.

This paper gives examples of the reproduction of inequalities at Chilean universities, comparing social origin, educational background and employment opportunities of social workers and commercial engineers. Databases of censuses taken by the Ministry of Education were used. Inequalities in social origin and employment opportunities were found, with them being more marked between commercial engineers than social workers. They are due to spatial dynamics and the extent to which degree courses are female-dominated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
