Abstract
- Making room for science: Susannah Gibson: The spirit of inquiry: how one extraordinary society shaped modern science. As Gibson puts it: The Society gave confidence to Cambridge's men of science. Gibson praises the Cambridge statistician Ronald Fisher for having "successfully linked the slowly changing continuous evolution of Darwin to the saltations of the geneticists" (232). Also, Gibson admits that Darwin's I Origin i was received less than enthusiastically by the Society leaders. [Extracted from the article]
