Abstract
- This article focuses on the motion pictures "Never Steal Anything Small" and "The Black Orchid." James Cagney's new film, "Never Steal Anything Small," starts well, beginning with the title. But it loses two things as it goes courage and consistency, and it ends up a mixture of wit and wobble. A picture that has even fewer good scenes buried in it is "The Black Orchid," which, starts promisingly, with the young widow and child of a murdered gangster attending his funeral. One often wonders what happens to the families of such men after they disappear from the papers, but this film completely muffs its chance to explore the relationships of the survivors with society.
