Abstract
- The article discusses the book "Lawrence of Arabia: A Biographical Enquiry," by Richard Aldington. According to the author, Aldington's bad taste and bad judgment are nowhere seen to worse advantage than in the suggestion that the main psychological urge behind British adventurer and writer T.E. Lawrence's adventures in Arabia was a revolt against his mother. The author finds it intolerable that Aldington suspects Lawrence of homosexual perversity and an insane hatred of the female sex. In the author's view Aldington was not the proper person to write about Lawrence as he did not know Lawrence at all and has made little attempt to understand him or even to consult those who did.
