Abstract

The significant structure transformations, including crystal-to-crystal, crystal-to-solid structure transformation and post-synthetic modification of MOFs, have great pushed MOFs from traditional coordination polymers to be new-generation of molecule based functional materials [[9]]. We deem the structure transformation of MOFs under external stimuli can move on one step further to address a pressing question of "Is there a general strategy to create glasses from MOFs without the need of melting"? Considering the structural similarity of the perturbative MOFs to amorphous organic polymers, direct glass transition may occur under mild temperature below decomposition or melting of the MOFs.
