Abstract
- The article presents information about abstracts of various papers that will be discussed at the Discussion Group of the 6th European Congress on Epileptology that will be held on May 31, 2004. One of the papers that will be discussed is "Reflex Syncopes, Breath-Holding Spells, Faints and Anoxic-Epileptic Seizures," by J. Stephenson and A. Nechay. Some syncopes are easily miss-diagnosed as epilepsy. Diagnostic confusion is even more likely when syncopes induce true epileptic seizures, producing anoxic-epileptic seizures. Neurally mediated syncopes have many names that vary with the age of the patient, but share a common albeit poorly understood pathophysiology. Other papers that will be discussed are "Pseudoseizures," by I. Tuxhorn and "Epilepsy and Migraine," by G. Gobbi.
