Sexuality education for children and youth with disabilities in Mainland China: Systematic review of thirty years.

Abstract

The dissemination of compelling evidence for the benefits and importance of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and it is hoped that review of this issue contribute to its delivery for children and youth with disabilities. The paper presents a brief summary of academic publications including both original researches and reviews about sexuality education in mainland China between 1990 and 2019. A coding system was developed to systematically analyse on its development, delivery and barriers, followed by countermeasures, suggestions and implications for future high-quality and curriculum-based CSE. Children and youth with disabilities should have equal acquisition that equipping them with knowledge and skills to protect themselves and make informed decisions about their sexuality and relationships.
