Abstract

A new evolutionary algorithm called colliding bodies optimization (CBO) considered in this paper to solve optimal power flow (OPF) problem in a power system network. CBO is based on natural phenomenon of one dimensional collision between two objectives. It does not have any control parameters and simple in structure. IEEE 30-bus system with various objective functions like, minimization of total fuel cost with valve point loading effect, minimization of emission profile are considered to test the feasibility and effectiveness of the CBO algorithm. In comparison with the other existed methods presented in the literature, the proposed CBO algorithm gives better optimal solutions for single objective OPF problems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
