DEL LÉXICO A LA DEIXIS SOCIAL: REFLEXIONES SOBRE LAS FORMAS DE TRATAMIENTO EN EL ÁMBITO DE LA TRADUCCIÓN.

In assuming the absence of a pure synonymy between two natural languages, we inquire about the validity of this postulate to linguistic units that provide grammatical information, as in the case of two pronominal forms of second person. From this initial consideration, this article aims to reflect on the following questions: (i) what meanings can be looked up in monolingual dictionaries regarding the singular Spanish pronouns; (ii) what relationships can be established between the lexical meaning and the social deixis linked by the pronominal forms of the second person; and (iii) what are the impacts of this phenomenon to the work of translation. The theoretical debate proposed here is based both on the field of Linguistics and on Translation Studies, making use of theories on social deixis, verbal politeness and postulates of Tradutology.
