Abstract

The monolayer of Pb atoms referred as plumbene has been recently synthesized. We report the optical properties based on the state-of-the-art density functional theory based calculations. Monolayer plumbene shows Dirac like features at Fermi level whereas AB-stacked bilayer plumbene is metallic in nature. Prominent blue shift in the plasmonic energy has been found on going from mono to bilayer of plumbene. Both mono and bilayer show strong absorption in visible and UV region. Reflectance edge is found to lie in IR region. Our results suggest that plumbene may have potential applications in fabrication of optoelectronic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
