After 2003 until 2014, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq benefited from a huge economic boom. It was the opportunity to build cities according to its ambitions. Becoming the “kurdish capital”, following the dream of political and economical independance, seems possible for Erbil. The goal is to reach the urban modernity that Dubaï embodies in a world of capitalistic exchanges. The city is staged and its urban projects are dramatized with the ambition of internationally shinning. An excessiveness urbanism takes shape in the region. The urban project, even stopped or unfinished, becomes a marketing tool. It’s image is thought in function of the foreign investors, of the central State, or of the rivals actors.
