Abstract
- The globalized scenarios where the Information and knowledge society proposes us new challenges to face virtual markets, where the product is symbolic and Design must assume a communication role to respond to buyer markets. Latin American designers must take on these challenges, which implies a deep understanding of the conditions of territorial demand. These phenomena have influenced Design to change in recent years; and adapt methodologies, to favor their credibility in relation to their Social role. What has generated new paradigms that modify the way of approaching it. The design goes beyond the formal, the mere drawing or delineation of objects, and even transcends its meaning of project or plan. It must seek to insert itself into the very life of communities and individuals and give way to a new self-managed vision of the world; that empowers us all of our own destinies. Designers, we must apprehend to interpret the theoretical approaches of the new scenarios, in which the client is no longer a company, but a territory and where organizations exist as long as there are people, their system of productive relationships and their cultural expressions.
