Abstract

We have studied the optical properties of the (Se80Te20)94Ag6/PM MA composite films. (Se80Te20)94Ag6 chalcogenide glass was prepared by melt quenching technique. We have prepared four compositions of as prepared glass with butylamine as 20 mg/ml, 40 mg/ml, 60 mg/ml and 80 mg/ml. Films of (Se80Te20)94Ag6/PM MA were deposited by drop casting method on to the glass substrate. The glassy nature of the as deposited film samp les was confirmed by XRD pattern. Uv-visible spectrophotometer was used to obtain the transmission spectra of films in the wavelength range 350–1200 nm. Transmission spectra were used to calculate the refractive index, extinction coefficient and band gap of the as deposited films. It was found that, the optical band gap increases while refractive index and extinction coefficient decrease with decrease in glass concentration in butylamine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
