- Reports that the U.S. government's list of banned airline passengers has grown from just 16 names on September 11, 2001 to thousands of people in 2004 amid signs of internal confusion and dissension over how the list is implemented. Tight security maintained over the list; Lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union under the Freedom of Information Act on behalf of two women from San Francisco, California.
